Meet Our Pastor And His Family

Tim Robinson has just completed his second year as our pastor at LakeWay. Since his arrival we have had over 40 baptisms, dozens of additions, started two services, had the largest number of VBS attendance in the last five years, and had almost 10,000 guests come to one of many LakeWay events.

In his free time, Tim is an avid weight trainer and mountain climber. He has climbed the summits of 44 state high points in the United States.

He builds state and national award winning models and is a member of the IPMS (International Plastic Model Society).

Tim married Kathy on November 22, 1986. Kathy is a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and has over 20 years experience in the nursing field. They have two children, Kimberly, age 14, and Matthew, age 11. Tim coaches Kimberly and Matthew in Track and Field through the Texas Amateur Athletics Federation (TAAF). In the summer of 2008, Kimberly won gold at the TAAF state meet in shot put, placed third at state in long jump, seventh in 100 M dash and tenth in 200 M dash. Kimberly finished fourth in the nation in long jump and fifth in the nation in shot put. Matthew missed qualifying for state in shot put by a mere two inches. Matthew enjoys playing football and basketball too.

Tim was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is a graduate of LSU Shreveport where he served as Student Body President and served on the LSU Board of Regents. Tim and his family are AVID LSU fans! During his college days he was elected State Vice President and President of the Louisiana Baptist Collegiate Ministries. The year he served as president the LBCM students raised the greatest amount for their missions fund at that time and had the largest number of student missionaries sent to serve in the United States and around the world.

After graduation Tim served on staff at Summer Grove Baptist Church and Trinity Heights Baptist Church in Shreveport. Tim chose New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary for his ministry education where he was elected Student Body President of the campus. Under his leadership there he led students to start several new student activities and ministries that are still in effect today.

During his doctoral work at NOBTS, he served on the faculty as an Evangelism and Church Growth instructor. He served as a fellow for Dr. Don Wilton, Pastor of First Baptist Spartanburg and current President of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and served as fellow for Dr. Chuck Kelly, President of NOBTS.

After graduation from NOBTS Tim served as Evangelism Associate for the Louisiana and Nevada Baptist Conventions leading several pastors and churches to record baptisms and growth. Tim pastored several churches in Louisiana and worked as a college campus minister for the LSU Alexandria campus. During his leadership there the Baptist Collegiate Ministry grew to the largest it had ever been--more than 125 students. He served as College Pastor at Shadow Hills in Las Vegas, Nevada before moving to Texas where he later began pastoring at LakeWay.
